Jantina DeVries – Righteous Among the Nations
During the winter of World War II, when Germany occupied the Netherlands, Jantina Veldboom (DeVries) was born on a small farm in a small village. She is the daughter of the late Hendrik and Frederika Veldboom who hid five Jews at their farmhouse in the Netherlands near the German border. Among them were Lena Kropveld and her husband, Cantor Yitzchak Jedwab. Jantina now lives in Hamilton and feels privileged to enjoy all the freedoms Canada provides.
Frances Elson – Holocaust Survivor Legacy
Frances’ story begins with her parents’ experiences in the Holocaust, tracing the family’s journey from Poland to Kazakhstan to Germany, and finally finding freedom in Canada. She shares her parents’ legacy through her art.
Kathy Kacer – Children & Young Adult Author
Kathy Kacer is a Canadian author of fiction and non-fiction for children about the Holocaust and has also written one adult fiction book. She has won several awards, and her books have been translated into multiple languages.
Every visit concludes with a private tour of the Centre.

Respectful Language: Use respectful and appropriate language when discussing the Holocaust, antisemitism, and related topics. Avoid language that could be offensive or hurtful to others.
No Touching Exhibits: Do not touch or tamper with any exhibits, artifacts, or displays unless explicitly permitted by signage or staff.
Supervision of Children: Keep children under close supervision at all times to ensure their safety and to prevent any disruptive behavior.
Follow Staff Instructions: Follow any instructions given by staff members regarding exhibit access, safety guidelines, or other directives.
Respect Personal Space: Be mindful of the personal space of other visitors and refrain from crowding or blocking exhibits.
Report Any Concerns: If you observe any behavior that violates these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, please report it to staff immediately.
